MOS Dr. L. Murugan Participates as Chief Guest at the Main Function in Capital City Port Blair

Port Blair, June 21: Together with the rest of the world, the 9th International Day of Yoga (IDY) was celebrated throughout the Islands in a befitting manner. The main function of IDY-2023 was organised by the A&N Administration in the auditorium of Govt. Girls’ Senior Secondary School in which the Hon’ble Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, GoI, Dr. L. Murugan was the chief guest while Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice–Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) was the guest of honour.

The Hon’ble Minister alongwith Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands inaugurated the IDY function by lighting the traditional lamp. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Singh were among others who graced the occasion.

The IDY function began with the telecast of the recorded address of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and the live telecast of the address of Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar from Jabalpur Madhya Pradesh. This year, the theme for International Yoga Day was ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ which beautifully encapsulates our collective aspiration for ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’.

Thereafter, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, GoI, Dr. L. Murugan, Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice–Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra and Adhyaksh ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Singh participated in Mass Yoga Demonstration (Common Yoga Protocol) under the guidance of Yoga Instructors of AYUSH. The Senior Officers of the A&N Administration, students of ANIIMS and Nursing Institute, Jawans from IRBn, invitees of NGOs & Civil Society and Divyanjan also participated in the yoga demonstration.  The Secretary (Health), Shri Satyendra Singh Dursawat proposed the vote of thanks on the occasion. The main function of the IDY-2023 concluded with the National Anthem.
