Port Blair, May 3: The Andaman Avians Club is thrilled to announce the successful completion of Hello Birding Chapter 5 (Summer) events held in Port Blair and Campbell Bay on April 27th and 28th, 2024. These two-day programs aimed to educate children about bird identification techniques, conservation ethics, and the importance of avian biodiversity.

Young participants from across the Andaman Islands gathered to embark on an immersive journey into the world of birds. In Port Blair, a total of 21 children enthusiastically participated, while 45 students attended the event in Campbell Bay, showcasing a keen interest in learning about birds and their conservation. Under the guidance of experienced citizen scientists and environmental educators, they learned to identify various bird species, appreciate their unique characteristics, and understand the significance of preserving their habitats.

The success of Hello Birding Chapter 5 would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Environment and Forest Dept, A&N Islands, Maa Saradha Agragati Women Cooperative Society, Mak Logistics, R. Settupathy Stone Products, Santosh Kumar (Brijgunj), Das Enterprise, and Pristine Beach Resort.

Additionally, as part of the program, classroom sessions were conducted at NPCI Haddo and Vanasthali Forest Rest House, providing participants with foundational knowledge about bird identification and conservation. Field sessions at the Biological Park in Chidiyatapu offered hands-on experiences, allowing children to observe birds in their natural habitats and learn about the importance of preserving these environments.
