Mayabunder, June 26: On 26.06.2024, in a concerted effort to combat drug abuse and raise public awareness, the North & Middle Andaman District Police organized a series of events to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The initiative aimed to educate the community, especially the youth, about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of leading a drug-free life.

An awareness rally at Diglipur and a walkathon at Betapur were organized, which saw enthusiastic participation from citizens of all age groups, Auto Drivers and Private Workers. Participants carried banners with powerful anti-drug messages, drawing attention from passers-by and fostering a spirit of unity against drug abuse. Following the walkathon, a drawing competition was held at PS Rangat. The competition, themed "Say No to Drugs," attracted young artists whose creative and thought-provoking artworks vividly depicted the adverse effects of drug abuse and the benefits of a drug-free lifestyle. Prizes were awarded to all participants.

In addition to the walkathon and drawing competition, a series of awareness programs were conducted throughout the day. These programs aimed to provide comprehensive information about the physical, psychological, and social impacts of drug abuse, as well as strategies for prevention and rehabilitation. Apart from the above, all district staff also took a pledge on this occasion.

The North and Middle Andaman District Police express their gratitude to all participants, who made the events a success. The district police remain dedicated to creating a safer, healthier, and drug-free community through on-going initiatives and collaborations.
