Port Blair, June 27: The 'PM Vishwakarma Scheme' aims to provide end-to-end support to artisans and craftspersons who work with their hands and tools. These traditional artisans and craftspersons, referred to as 'Vishwakarma,' are engaged in occupations such as blacksmithing, goldsmithing, pottery, carpentry, and sculpture etc. The scheme will bring a qualitative shift in the way these occupations are practiced, uplifting the socio-economic status and quality of life of these artisans and craftspersons.

The ITI, Dollygunj, A&N Administration is all set to launch its first batch of training under the ‘PM Vishwakarma Scheme’ at Govt. Industrial Training Institute in the trade of ‘Tailor’ (Darzi). The Zero-day Assessment of Level 3 verified beneficiaries was held today at Govt. ITI Dollygunj. A total of 32 beneficiaries have been successfully assessed to undergo five days of basic training, where they will be trained in various skills including entrepreneurship, new technology, and marketing etc. Those interested in further skill up-gradation will be enrolled in the fifteen-day advanced skill training.

All traditional artisans and craftspersons of these Islands have been requested to register themselves through Common Service Centres (CSCs) to avail benefits of Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana (PMVY).
