Port Blair, June 28: The valedictory function of the Summer Hobby Classes on Paper Mache and Painting organized by the Department of Art and Culture was held at Andaman Club here this evening. The Secretary (Art and Culture/IP&T), Shri Vishwendra was the chief guest on the occasion. The Special Secretary (Art and Culture/IP&T), Ms Nandini Maharaj was the guest of honor.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest urged the participants to hone their talents for gaining livelihood as well as for personality development. The artworks prepared during the camp showcases the talents of the participants, he said. Encouraging the participants, the Secretary urged them to showcase their creative talents besides academic and sports activites as this will help them to excel in life. The Deptt. of Art & Culture will continue to organize such hobby classes through resource persons, to facilitate in honing the innate talents, the Secretary added. The chief guest also gave away the certificates to the participants.

In her address, the guest of honour appreciated the participants for their creativity and assured that Art and Culture Department will continue to organize various workshops in the days to come. The guest of honor also felicitated the Mentor of the Hobby Classes, Shri Mahananda Gomasta who devoted his time to conduct the classes. Shri Gomasta also expressed his views on the occasion.

The dignitaries also saw the artefacts and paintings created by the participants during the hobby classes.

Altogether, 25 persons participated in the hobby class. The program concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the Assistant Director, Art and Culture, Ms Kanak Radha Chatterjee.
