Port Blair, June 28: A Five days’ classroom Training and review meeting of Facility Level Staff organized by A&N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) from 24th-28th June 2024 in the conference hall of Ayush Hospital, Junglighat, Port Blair. The participants included 13 ICTCs Counsellors, Lab. Technicians and Staff Nurse.

Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services/ Vice Chairperson ANACS, A & N Administration graced the program as Chief Guest and inaugurated the training in the presence of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director ANACS and Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, Deputy Director (AYUSH).

Dr. Suja Antony highlighted the impact of HIV/AIDS globally. For last many years we have been working on awareness, counselling, testing and treatment but still there is need to keep ourselves updated with the new changes happening every year. We have a small population but the island is vulnerable due to increase in tourism, she said.

Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director ANACS in his key note address, briefed on the objective of the training.

The participants were earlier welcomed by Shri. Vivekanand Singh, Deputy Director, Basic Service Division. 

Around 45 participants from various facility centers of ANACS were benefitted from this training programme. 

The training session included objective of NACP-V; Introduction to the National HIV/AIDS Programme and National AIDS Control Organization; Drivers of the HIV epidemic; the HIV/AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act 2017; Services and Social Protection Programme; Prevention and Management of Opportunistic Infections & Co-morbidities; Basic Counselling Skills; Risk Assessment, Pre and Post-test counselling and Index testing; Nutrition in the context of HIV and Adherence; Post Exposure Prophylaxis, Universal Work Precaution, PEP, ART Treatment and Management of PLHIV; Elimination of Vertical Transmission of HIV and Syphilis; Screening and Management of STI and RTI; Newer Initiatives of NACP-V; Data Management & Guidelines and SOCH Hands on training.

The resource persons were Dr. Lyra Priyadarshini Andrews, Dermatologist, Dr. Nisha S Parveen, Chest & TB Specialist from GB Pant Hospital and Dr. Jahanara Yasmeen, Dr. P.K. Sikdar, Shri Girish Kumar, Shri Senthil Nathan, Shri Asif Rehan, Shri K. A Satheesh Kumar and Shri Kausik Kr. Halder from ANACS. The program was technically supported by Shri Santosh Baghel, Smt. Kalai Selvi, Smt. Sheela and Shri John Peter.

The five days training and review meeting of facility level staff concluded with distribution of certificates to the participants.
