National Doctors Day is celebrated across the country on 1st July every year in honour of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a Bharat Ratna awardee, former Chief Minister of West Bengal and a legendary physician.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the doctors serving in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Your unwavering dedication, compassion and commitment to providing quality healthcare to the people of these islands, especially in the remote and inaccessible islands are truly commendable.

This year, the celebration holds special significance as we recognize the extraordinary efforts of doctors in the face of unprecedented challenges. The recent global health crisis has highlighted the essential role of medical professionals in safeguarding our communities. Their resilience, innovation and unwavering spirit have been a source of hope and strength for millions.

As we commemorate National Doctors Day, let us collectively express our heartfelt appreciation for the doctors who work tirelessly to heal, comfort, and save lives. Their selfless dedication and commitment to excellence in healthcare inspire us all and make the world a better place.

I once again extend my deep appreciation to all the doctors for their extraordinary commitment and for embodying the true spirit of empathy and compassion and I sincerely hope that they will continue to serve humanity with the same zeal and enthusiasm as they have demonstrated during the global COVID pandemic.
