Port Blair, June 30: The Armed Police Unit (APU) of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is delighted to announce its receipt of the ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management System. This prestigious certification signifies the APU’s adherence to international standards in its operations and commitment to excellence.

Located at Police Lines, Shadipur PO, Port Blair, South Andaman District, the APU has undergone a thorough evaluation process, demonstrating its capability in managing emergency reserve forces, maintaining arms and ammunition, overseeing logistics and stores, and performing specialized duties at lookout posts, escorting, and guarding. The certification also covers the A&N Police commitment towards promotion of sports and the welfare of police personnel as well.

This achievement was made possible under the guidance of Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands. The efforts were spearheaded by Ms. Shweta K Sugathan the Superintendent of Police, Armed Police Unit, along with dedicated officers who ensured all procedures met the stringent ISO standards. The certification process involved comprehensive audits by independent experts, validating the APU’s quality management practices.

The ISO 9001:2015 Certification, awarded by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), underscores the APU’s commitment to operational efficiency, accountability, and public satisfaction. This certification is valid until June 27, 2027, with scheduled surveillance audits in 2025 and 2026 to ensure ongoing compliance.
