Port Blair, June 30: The Marine Police Operational Centre, Police Marine Force (PMF) in Chatham, Port Blair, is proud to announce that it has been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certification. This prestigious certification confirms that the Quality Management System of the PMF has been thoroughly assessed and meets the rigorous standards set forth by ISO 9001:2015.

The scope of activities covered under this certification includes: Safeguarding the coastline and islands against illegal activities, conducting anti-poaching operations, Coastal patrolling, Search and rescue operations, Detection of foreign intrusion, Guarding lookout posts and Assisting rescue and rehabilitation operations in the event of natural calamities and disasters

This achievement is a testament to the PMF's unwavering commitment to excellence and operational efficiency in ensuring the safety and security of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This significant milestone was accomplished under the supervision of Smti. Varsha Sharma, IPS, DIGP L&O, PMF, and under the command of Ms. Shweta K Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police (Police Marine Force).

The efforts were guided by the esteemed leadership of Shri. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, and Smti. Sindhu Pillai A, IPS, Inspector General of Police, whose vision and directions were instrumental in this accomplishment.

In addition to its operational excellence, the Police Marine Force is actively engaged in community outreach and education. The PMF has been organizing and creating awareness about the new criminal law that will be implemented starting July 1, 2024. This outreach targets local fishermen across the A&N Islands, including the more remote areas, ensuring that they are well-informed about the upcoming legal changes.

To further support this initiative, the PMF will host a session on the new criminal law on July 1, 2024, at 1200 hrs at Khaitaan Kalyan Mandapam. This session aims to educate the staff of the Fisheries Department, Forest Department, Indian Coast Guard, and local fishermen from the Port Blair area about the new regulations and their implications.
