Port Blair, July 3: The Scheme Hub for Empowerment of Women aims to facilitate inter-sectoral convergence of schemes and programs meant for women both at the Central (NHEW), State/ UT level (SHEW) and District level (DHEW) with the mandate to create an environment in which women realize their full potential. In line with this, an awareness programme on the theme ‘Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita’ was conducted under the Scheme Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW) at the Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School which was attended by the Officers of Directorate of Social Welfare & Police Department besides Staff of ICDS Project, POSHAN Staff, HEW Staff and School students.

The Resource Person, Shri Abhishek Halder, Sub-Inspector from the Police Department provided valuable insight on ‘Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita’, highlighting its significance and implications. He also elaborated on various aspects of the law, ensuring the attendees including school children.     Further, emphasizing the theme of women's empowerment, Ms. Reeta Devi, Welfare Officer (Women) discussed the crucial role of women's empowerment in society, underlining its impact on social progress and equality. She explained about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act to the school children, ensuring they understood the legal framework designed to safeguard their rights. She also briefed about good touch and bad touch, aiming to educate the young audience on personal safety and boundaries.

Earlier, Smt. Zarina Bibi, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) from the ICDS Urban Project, welcomed the gathering. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Smt. Pratima Rai, Mukhya Sevika, ICDS Ferrargunj Project.
