Port Blair, July 5: The South Andaman District Police continues to demonstrate its unyielding attitude against the illicit trade and poaching of wildlife animals has achieved great success on seizure of 23.375 Kgs of venison.

On 26/06/2024, during patrolling near Tushnabad by SI Devanand Pathak, SHO PS Ograbraj along with ASI Suleman Beck, HC S. Vijay Kumar, HG(R) Sundra Bai and PC (D) Prokash Halder in Government vehicle, they notice that a lady with an aluminium container in her hand rushing towards her house in a suspicious manner. Suspecting illegal activity, the lady was intercepted and during checking it was found that the aluminium container was completely filled with venison packed in plastic polythene and one head of deer. Further, the venison and deer head were seized on the spot and the lady was detained after observing all codal formalities. Later, all the seized wildlife products and detained lady were handed over to Forest Officials for further necessary action at their end.

The team of South Andaman, under the overall supervision of Smti Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP South Andaman successfully conducted raids at various locations of South Andaman District, resulting in the confiscation of 158.375 Kgs of venison from 01st January to 30th June, 2024. The primary goal is to ensure the safety and security of our citizens while preserving the rich biodiversity of these Islands.
