Port Blair, Jan 30: On 27th January 2024, a significant milestone was achieved in the disposal of explosive materials related to the cases of PS CCS. A total of around 3000 electric detonators, 2000 Gelatine sticks, and one bundle of connecting lining wire were successfully disposed off at the Brookshabad dumping area. This operation was conducted in the presence of Deputy Controller of Explosives, Kolkata, following the necessary disposal order from the Hon'ble Court.

Swaraj Dweep, Jan 30: In a determined effort to maintain the pristine beauty and safety of Swaraj Dweep Island, the Swaraj Dweep Police has taken a significant step towards eradicating drug-related activities on the island by arresting one person who was in possession of Charas and Ganja.

On 29/01/2024, a credible information was received about possession of Charas and Ganja by a person, upon which a raiding team was immediately constituted lead by Inspector N. Zainuddin, SHO Swaraj Dweep comprising of Head Constables Patrick, Nishal Ruben Ekka and Constables Prashanth, Suraj Kumar and Joga Rao. The raiding team successfully conducted raid at Govind Nagar No. 01 and arrested the person namely Joshwa Josey S/o Shri Josey (25) yrs R/o. Govind Nagar No 03, Swaraj Dweep working as a Dive Master and recovered 116 Grams of Charas and 271 grams of Ganja from his possession.

Port Blair, Jan 30: The IAS Probationers of 2023 batch on ‘Bharat Darshan’ tour to A&N Islands today interacted with the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS in the conference hall of the Secretariat.

Kalighat, Jan 30: In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 30/01/2024, the Kalighat & Rangat Police successfully confiscated a significant quantity of illicit liquor at Shyamkund & Talbagan Forest.

Acting promptly on input, SI Silpi Singha, SHO PS Kalighat, constituted a team consisting of ASI Mukesh Charan, PCs Irenious, Ripon Mistry and Shoaib Ali who were deployed at Talbagan to conduct a jungle search. During intensive search the team successfully seized about 280 ltrs of lahen and 03 ltrs of illicit liquor from the jungle of Talbagan.

Car Nicobar, Jan 30: A training program on marine turtle monitoring was organized at Car Nicobar Island from 22-24 January 2024 by ICAR- Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Car Nicobar. The training was funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the STI (Science, Technology, and Innovation) scheme. The training program was primarily meant to generate awareness of the importance of marine turtle nesting habitats and to build baseline information on turtle nesting and foraging habitats in Car Nicobar Island through citizen science initiatives.
