Port Blair, July 30: Rapid rise in the COVID-19 cases has been observed recently in the UT and majority of them are through contacts. In order to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Directorate of Transport has decided to discontinue all transactions related to Registration of Motor Vehicles including collection of road tax, fitness, renewal of registration, issuance of NOC etc. and issuance of new as well as renewal of driving licence and new learners licence w.e.f. 31-07-2020 temporarily.

Authorities Fail to Address the Distress Call

Port Blair, July 30: The Doctor at the Health Centre at Chouldari Village in South Andaman District has been confirmed as COVID-19 positive, indicating the spread of virus in the health centre. Yet the Health Centre continues without mandatory testing for the remaining staff posted there. The staffs including paramedics are forced to visit the centre, which remains as an unsafe zone for all.

Port Blair, July 29: The UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has recorded its second death due to Covid-19. A male patient aged 45 years, from Teylerabad succumbed to the infection at around 6.30 pm today at GB Pant. The patient was also suffering from Hypertension and Kidney disorder.
