Port Blair, May 9: The Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Andaman Ship Owners Association and the Tourism stake-holders of the islands are delighted that the first cruise vessel MV Insignia with 450 passengers called Port Blair today the 9th May 2023. This is the first cruise vessel to call at Port Blair after four long years and we hope that more such vessels will call in the near future and the years to come. The Chamber has thanked the Andaman Administration for their support especially Shri Vinay Bhushan, Secretary, Tourism for having coordinated the entire requirements of the arrival and stay of the vessel and ensuring that the visit went of smoothly with the support of the various wings of the Administration and government viz. Immigration, police, transport, Customs, Port Health, Port Management Board and Andaman & Nicobar Command.

Port Blair, May 9: Due to predicted cyclonic weather over Bay of Bengal, the Directorate of Shipping Services, keeping in view the safety of passenger and vessels have informed the passengers/ general public that the operation of Foreshore Sector and Harbour/Vehicle ferry services at Port Blair and out stations may get disrupted/suspended in short notice depending upon the weather condition. Therefore, the passengers, daily commuters and tourists have been advised to plan their journey suitably to avoid any inconvenience.
