Port Blair, May 16: In line with the directions of Govt. of India to States/Union Territories that all the States/UTs shall celebrate not only their own State Foundation Days but also the State Formation Days of other States and in order to promote 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' concept, the A&N Raj Niwas celebrated the Foundation Day of Sikkim in a befitting function organized today in the conference hall of Raj Niwas.

Port Blair, May 16: A solemn function will be organised at the Memorial of Battle of Aberdeen, Water Sports Complex on 17th May 2023 at 9.00 am to pay tribute to those Great Andamanese who lost their lives during the battle fought in the year 1859. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration and others will pay tribute at the Memorial.

Port Blair, May 15: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has lauded the remarkable contribution of the Andaman guesthouses in Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi, which has played a crucial role in providing affordable and economical accommodation, specifically catering to patients from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

“The smooth operations of the Andaman guesthouse in both Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi have been nothing short of a blessing for our fellow Islanders,” he said.

INTER ISLAND SECTOR:

MV Bharat Seema will sail for Car Nicobar via Little Andaman on 20.05.2023 (Sat) at 0700 Hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail for Port Blair on 21.05.2023 (Mon) at 1600 Hrs from Car Nicobar via same route. 

Port Blair, May 15: The Nicobar District Administration, as an initiative under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana -National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), which is a Flagship poverty removal scheme of Government of India, endeavors to mobilize rural poor women to form institutions like SHGs & Federations. The purpose is to make a positive impact on their livelihood by improving the income levels and quality of life of the rural households in the District. The District Administration has been organizing Camps/Public Awareness, Door to Door Awareness Campaign & Survey by CRPs. Identification and formation of SHGs amongst the students/ ex-students of Industries Deptt. and other students trained in other sectors have come up in Car Nicobar and are doing very well by making Nicobari Yoga Mats, Virgin Coconut Oil, Pickles and other such products.
