Port Blair, June 21: The Quarterly review meeting of Child Welfare Committee (South Andaman)  was conducted under the Chairmanship of District Magistrate/ Deputy Commissioner (SA) Shri Suneel Anchipakka, IAS on 16th June 2022 to review the pendency of cases and the issues pertaining to the welfare of children of South Andaman which was attended by the Members of the Child Welfare Committee, South Andaman.

Port Blair, June 21: The 8th International Yoga Day celebrated at Community Hall Ograbraj under Gram Panchayat Mithakhari. The programme was inaugurated by Shri. Prem Singh Meena, Assistant Commissioner (Settlement) by lighting up a lamp followed by Shri. T. Mohammed Rafique, Panchayat Samiti Member and Shri. Mohammed Jalal, Up-Pradhan GP Mithakhari alongwith Dr. Huma (Ayush) and PRI members. The address of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narender Modi was live telecast at the venue. Common Yoga practices were demonstrated and followed by the participants. The programme concluded with National Anthem.

Port Blair, June 21: Eight positive cases have been detected today of which, six were from incoming flight passengers who arrived here yesterday. Today, 12 flights with 1782 passengers arrived, out of which, 1547 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 172 passengers and the reports are awaited. 

Port Blair, June 21: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,83,161 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,567 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years and 13,204 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 12 to 14 years. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 26,911.

Youth should not be misled by misinformation campaign over ‘Agnipath’: Admiral DK Joshi

Port Blair, June 20: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd), Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency has made a fervent appeal to the youth not to be misled by misinformation and disinformation spread on the ‘Agnipath Scheme’ announced by the Govt. of India. Calling it an ‘important scheme’ for the country and for those interested in working for the defence forces, Lt Governor advised the youth to look into the positive aspects of the scheme which provides financial benefit and also has the option of continuing the service. In an interview telecast by Doordarshan Port Blair and broadcast by All India Radio, Port Blair on ‘Agnipath Scheme’ which is also available on youtube link https://youtu.be/ekMGgWjsfkg, the Lt Governor said, as per the scheme, some will be retained while for others the options are unlimited.
