Port Blair, March 15: A meeting was held under the Chairpersonship of Nodal Officer (EEM)/ADM (South Andaman), A&N Islands, Ms. Nandini Maharaj, IAS with Political Parties functionaries to explain various legal provisions and mechanisms in place with regard to Election Expenditure Monitoring (EEM) of contesting candidates in the Conference Hall of District Office, South Andaman on 12.3.2024.     

Port Blair, March 15: The Chief Electoral Officer, A&N Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS convened a meeting today in his Chamber, Secretariat with Special Secretary (IT) & Joint Director, National Informatics Centre (NIC), Port Blair. During the meeting, discussions held on revamping of CEO’s website in view of the forthcoming General Elections to Lok Sabha - 2024.

Port Blair, March 14: Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency chaired an interactive session today at Raj Niwas to promote the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as a premium Diving and Tourist destination in the Indian Ocean Region.

Addressing the stakeholders, the Lt. Governor said that the UT of A&N Islands comprises one third of the country’s EEZ, with 836 Islands, spanning 8250 Sq.kms., offer unparalleled and diverse marine ecosystems and underwater landscapes, which are not found anywhere else. The Lt. Governor proposed and invited suggestions for developing A&N Islands as the most premium diving destination in the entire Indian Ocean Region for under-water enthusiasts. He emphasised that collective and wholehearted efforts of all the stakeholders will be instrumental in this endeavour.

Port Blair, March 15: Regional News Unit of Akashvani has invited applications from eligible candidates for the empanelment as Casual Social Media Executive to form a panel initially for three months.

The applicants should possess qualification of 10+2 with good proficiency in English and Hindi. They must have basic computer skills i.e. internet, uploading, downloading social media handles etc.

Port Blair, March 14: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has brought attention to the pressing issue of dangerous trees posing a threat to public safety across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Expressing grave concern over the potential risks posed by these trees, particularly in densely populated areas and along busy roads, the Member of Parliament wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration highlighting the looming fear among the local population. With the onset of adverse weather conditions, such as cyclones or heavy winds, there is a heightened risk of these trees or their branches falling onto roads, houses, or pedestrians, potentially leading to fatal accidents.
