Port Blair, March 14: As the nation prepares for the General Election 2024, Andaman & Nicobar Islands have fortified their security apparatus with comprehensive measures to ensure a smooth and fair electoral process.

In this connection, Shri. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, conducted a comprehensive review of law-and-order arrangements and security preparedness on 12/03/2024, emphasizing the importance of readiness for the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024.

Port Blair, March 14: Shri Nikhil Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary (I/C), A&N Administration released the publication of ‘Basic Statistics Handbook 2022-23’ of Andaman & Nicobar Islands in his chamber today in the presence of Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner South Andaman, Smti Nandini Maharaj, IAS, Secretary, Statistics (I/C), Shri Gaurang Mishra, Director (Eco. & Stat.) and Shri D.S. Clement Stephen, Statistical Officer (HQ) along with the Statistical team.

With the advancement in technology and growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in many fields, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs has selected the theme, "Fair and Responsible AI for Consumer", for celebrating ‘World Consumer Rights Day’ on 15th March, 2024. It gives immense pleasure that the citizens of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are joining hands with the rest of the World in Celebrating the World Consumer Rights Day.

Port Blair, March 14: A three week’s orientation programme for the newly recruited Fisheries Inspector and Fisheries Field Assistant got underway today at Fisheries Training Centre, Marine Hill. The training programme was inaugurated by Shri Vishwendra, Secretary (Fisheries).

In his address, Secretary (Fisheries) appreciated the efforts of Department for a well-organized module of training covering all aspects of Fisheries and Aquaculture of A&N Islands for the better delivery of work by the functionaries in field activities. He advised the participants to make use of the opportunity in learning all the field oriented aspects considering the role of Fisheries Department in the growth of Island economy. He also suggested including swimming course as part of the training curriculum for creating a better performing manpower especially in the field of Mariculture, marine ornamental fisheries activities and better management of fish landing centers.

Robindro Singh, IRS and District Nodal Officer of Income Tax for Election Monitoring, Shri Arnab Sarkar, IRS(IT).
