Port Blair, April 12: A solemn function will be organized by the A & N Administration on April 14 to pay floral tributes to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on his 132nd Birth Anniversary at the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambekdar near the main entrance of Dr. B R Ambedkar Auditorium. Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM,VSM (Retd.) will pay floral tribute to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on April 14 at 9.30 am.

Port Blair, April 12: The 36th convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held on 3rd April 2023. Out of the 779 eligible students, nearly 60 students attended the function and collected original degree certificates.  The students who have paid the requisite registration fee of Rs.600/- through online and have not-collected the original Degree Certificate during the Convocation function are advised to visit the IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair to collect the same during its working hours.

Port Blair, April 11: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the matter the Chief Secretary, of A&N Administration regarding enhancement of honorarium for an amount of Rs. 1,500/- per Lecture to the maximum of Rs. 50,000/- to all Guest Lecturers working under Andaman and Nicobar Administration.

During a meeting with the Chief Secretary this morning, the Member of Parliament explained that he has got representations from the guest lecturers engaged in various colleges functioning under Andaman & Nicobar Administration for taking up the matter with the authorities concerned for payment of Rs 1500/- per lecture to the maximum of Rs 50,000/- which is extended only to those guest lecturers who possess pre requisite qualification of UGC regulations.

Car Nicobar, April 11: The 13th Inter village Canoe Race Championship, 2023 was held on April 10 & 11, 2023 at Big Lapathy Beach, Car Nicobar. The Canoe Race Competition was organized by the Nicobars Games & Sports Association, Car Nicobar in coordination with the District Administration, Nicobar District. The main function was held at Big Lapathy Beach, Car Nicobar in which, Shri Hari Kallikkat, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District graced the occasion as the chief guest. Shri Manjit Sheoran, IPS, SP(N), Shri Piyush Singh, AC (HQ), Shri Lionald Nicomede, Chairman Tribal Council, Car Nicobar, Shri Anwar Moosa, Medical Superintendent, BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar were also present and motivated the participants.
