GOI Approves Project for Complete Fleet Upgradation of Helicopters   

Port Blair, Oct. 5: The Directorate of Civil Aviation under the aegis of Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India has initiated many steps to augment the inter-island air connectivity. The rolling out of these projects will bolster inter-island travel and will have a cascading effect on the growth of tourism in the Islands. Govt. of India has approved the project for complete fleet upgradation of Helicopters. The present Dauphin N3 Helicopters will be replaced, and new helicopters with advanced features and increased carrying capacity will be inducted through Pawan Hans Limited. The project will cost Rs. 415 crores. Safety of passengers and flying capacity in difficult weather conditions are the prominent features of the new helicopters. The new helicopters will provide comfortable journeys to the Islanders and it will also improve the Inter-Island connectivity at large.

Port Blair, Oct. 5: It is a proud moment for the islanders as V Yashwant, a young chess player from Port Blair has brought laurels to A & N Islands by achieving Arena FIDE Master Title (AFM). He has become the second Chess Player from Andaman & Nicobar Islands after ACM Roshan Senthil Kumar to achieve any International Title by the World Chess Federation.

AFM Yashwant, a class IX student of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School Port Blair, a rated player with a FIDE Rating of 1318 has achieved Arena FIDE Master (AFM) Title today by the World Chess Federation for his outstanding performance in the FIDE Online Arena (FOA).

Port Blair, Oct. 5: In a significant achievement showcasing the commitment of Andaman and Nicobar Police towards ensuring the safety of women and children, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police have secured an impressive No.2 position among Union Territories and a commendable 6th position among the States/UTs for the speedy investigation of cases related to rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) as per the Investigation Tracking System for Sexual Offences (ITSSO) portal.

Port Blair, Oct. 5: A document in the form of a Press Release titled “RECRUITMENT FOR THE POST OF SUB-INSPECTOR (FIRE) IN ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR POLICE, ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS” is being circulated on social media by unscrupulous elements. It is outrightly clarified that this is a fake document and no such Press Release has been issued by A&N Police. Strict legal action is being initiated in the matter. General Public is advised to trust only the official information issued by Andaman & Nicobar Police through authorised media and A&N Police website.

Port Blair, Oct. 5: CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee once again demanded to have a re-look of the proposal for establishment of the Deemed University in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and allow the present system of affiliation of the Colleges with the Pondicherry University, which is a highly acclaimed University in the country with a good NAAC grading to continue for the benefit of students and to save the higher education institutions in the islands from total chaos and collapse.
