Andaman & Nicobar Police Study Circle Conducts 12th Discussion on Policing

Port Blair, June 11: The Andaman & Nicobar Police has been proactively initiating many projects/programmes in order to make Policing effective, professional and efficient. Subsequently, Andaman & Nicobar Police has taken a step forward and initiated a Police Study Circle (PSC) program, which is a research and analysis circle that focuses on critical issues in policing. PSC explores best practices on fundamental issues such as developing community policing, problem-oriented policing, using technologies to deliver better Police services to the community and evaluating crime reduction strategies. So far, 11 discussions were conducted on various topics which were chaired or moderated by the High Court Judges, Chairperson NCW, Additional Director (IB), Joint Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat) & other eminent personalities.

Member of Parliament Puts Forward Suggestions in the Larger interest of Islanders

Port Blair, June 11: The meeting of Telecom Advisory Committee, Andaman & Nicobar Circle under the Chairmanship of Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands was held on 10.06.2020 at the conference Hall of BSNL, Bhavan, Port Blair.  In the meeting, Chief General Manager and other senior officials of A&N Telecom Circle was present.  During meeting, the Member of Parliament being a chairman has put many suggestions in the larger interest of the Islanders for overall development in the Information Technology in these Islands:

One Arrested While Coming Out of Courier Office

Port Blair, June 10: Acting on specific information received on 09/06/2020, the Central Crime Station arrested one person namely Sekh Murtaza R/o South Point from Andaman Super Express Courier office, Junglighat. The CCS team comprising of Inspr. D. Jagdishwar Rao, SHO PS CCS, Inspector Mohd Elias, SI Madhab Halder, ASI Vijay Shankar, Head Constable Abdul Nazar, K. Venkateshwar Rao, Constable P. K. Mondal and G. Ravi arrested the accused as he came out from Andaman Super Express Courier office and recovered 3.88 Kgs of ganja from his possession. The recovered ganja was seized on the spot under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act-1985. The raid was supervised by Sh. Jagdev Singh Yadav, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID) under the overall supervision of Sh. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP(CID).

Port Blair, June 10: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the matter connected with GST compliance by the assesses of Andaman & Nicobar Islands with the Union Finance Minister of India. Kuldeep said that due to poor and interrupted internet connectivity in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the assesses of these Islands are not able to comply with various GST return filing compliances within the stipulated time.  Therefore keeping in view of difficulties being faced by the assesses, he requested the Finance Minister to consider for the following relief(s):-
