Port Blair, July 31: The climatic condition of the Island is highly conducive to grow speciality flowers especially the heliconias, Calatheas, Etlingera and Alpinias. These speciality flowers are high value cut flowers crops with versatile utilities like bouquets, flower arrangements and hall decorations. ICAR-CIARI maintains a large germplasm collection of speciality flowers and their cultivation and value addition is popularized in the Island in collaboration with NABARD, Port Blair.

Port Blair, July 31: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) under the leadership of its President, Shri M. Vinod is organising Andaman Tourism Roadshow on the 1st of August 2023 at The Grand Regent Hotel, Coimbatore. The road show is being organised in association with Travel Agents Association of Coimbatore.

Around 20 members of AATO will be interacting with more than 40 members of TAC.

Port Blair, July 31: ANCOFED is starting the procurement of Copra under the Price Support Scheme of Govt. of India @Rs.108.60 per kg from the farmers of these Islands from Aug. 2 at Campbell Bay, Hut Bay and South Andaman for which the following staffs have already been deputed in the respective places for the purpose.

Port Blair, July 31: The Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh met the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, in his chamber today and discussed various issues of holistic development of these Islands and issues of all three tiers of Panchayati Raj across Isles.

Port Blair, July 31: As part of Monsoon Tourism Festival, held on July 15 & 16 at Corbyn’s Cove Beach, the Tourism Department had invited open entries for Rain Dance Competition and Rain Photography Competition. The winners of Rain Dance competitions were awarded with the cash prize on July 16, however, the entries to the Rain Photography competition was kept open for all till July 23.
