Port Blair, Aug. 23: ADIP Scheme (Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids/Appliances (ADIP Scheme) is being implemented by Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India since 1981.The main objective of the scheme is to assist the needy Divyangjan in procuring durable, sophisticated  and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aids and appliances that can  promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation by reducing the effect of disabilities and enhance their economic potential. Under the Scheme, aids and assistive devices are given to Persons with Disabilities with an aim to improve their independent functioning and to arrest the extent of disability and occurrence of secondary disabilities. The scheme was modified and is applicable with effect from 1st April, 2022.

Port Blair, Aug. 23: A Pharmacovigilence Awareness Programme for ASU & H drugs under the Central Sector Scheme of ‘Ayush Oushadhi Guvnatta evum Uttapadan Samvardhan Yojana’ (AOGUSY) was conducted by Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre (PPvC) under AYUSH Wing of DHS today at PHC Chouldari.

INTER ISLAND SECTOR:

MV Chowra wil sail for Campbell Bay via Little Andaman, Car Nicobar, Chowra, Teressa, Katchal & Nancowry on 24.08.2022 (Wed) at 0800 Hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail for Port Blair on 28.08.2022 (Sun) 1700 Hrs from Campbell Bay via same route. Passenger Tickets for onward journey will be issued on 24.08.2022 at Haddo Wharf two hours prior to the departure time of the vessel based on the list provided by Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Port Blair and also after due verification of COVID Test Certificate and Islander Card/Local Certificate/Tribal Pass etc.

Port Blair, Aug. 23: The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has invited applications through National Awards Portal i.e. https://awards.gov.in/ for Vayoshreshtha Samman-2022 from eminent Senior Citizens and Institutions involved in rendering distinguished services for the cause of elderly persons till 29th August, 2022. No physical applications shall be entertained by the Ministry.

Port Blair, Aug. 23: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,95,697 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,938 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years. 27, 926 beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years have been administered both doses of vaccine. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 2,14,533.
