Diglipur, May 8: In exercise of power conferred under M.V. Act, 1988 (Act No. 59 of 1988) read with Administration's Notification No. 2008/F.No.32-95/2008-TR, dated 10th March, 2008, the SDM, Diglipur has notified for the information of all concerned that the Bailey Bridge at Subashgram Ward No. 7 is closed for a period of 03 months w.e.f 06.05.2024 to 06.08.2024.  

Port Blair, May 8: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre Port Blair distributes study materials/SLM to the learners of July, 2023 session (Fresh and RR). The learners who have not received the study materials till date are advised to collect his/her study material from the IGNOU Regional Centre, opposite to Air Cargo Complex, VIP Road, Port Blair during its working hours.  Further it is also informed that the last date for submission of assignments for June-2024 Term End Exam is extended upto 15th May, 2024.

Port Blair, May 7: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to increase the number of sailings between Car Nicobar and Port Blair during this vacation period. Specifically, he proposed scheduling the MV Kalighat, MV Sindhu or MV Nalanda to operate thrice a month to ensure that residents have regular and reliable transportation options.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that large number of people including the residents of Car Nicobar and Government Servants posted at Car Nicobar are facing severe hardships due to the unavailability of ships and the significant gap between their schedules for travel between Car Nicobar and Port Blair.

Port Blair, May 8: The closing date of registration for the 1st DGP Cup A & N State Open Chess Tournament 2024 to be organized by Andaman & Nicobar Police at the Armed Police Unit, Police Line on May 11 & 12, 2024 has been extended upto May 10, 2024 (1500 hrs), a press release from SP (APU) said.

Port Blair, May 7: The Andaman Moplah Service Organization (AMSO) hosted a grand felicitation event to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Zohra Banu, who secured 469th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Titled "Inspiring Minds-Changing Lives," the event honored Zohra Banu's exemplary dedication and academic excellence.

Zohra Banu, hailing from Calicut village in South Andaman, received her schooling from Ummat Public School and graduated in B. Tech CSE from Andhra University. Currently pursuing studies in Data Science at IIT Madras, Zohra's journey is a testament to perseverance and determination.
