New Delhi, Sept. 29: The 67th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) was held on Thursday, 28th September, 2023, at Hotel Andaz, Aerocity, New Delhi. Mr. Pradeep Shetty has been elected as the President of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) for 2023-24. Mr Shetty will take charge of the office from 1st January 2024 and the current President Mr. Sudesh Kumar Poddar will continue till 31st December 2023. Mr. Shetty was serving as the Vice President of FHRAI in the previous year. Mr Shetty also serves as the President of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI).

Port Blair, Sept. 29: All India Chess Federation (AICF) under the aegis of International Chess Federation (FIDE) will be conducting   five FIDE Trainer Seminars at different venues of India as per the appended schedule to provide an opportunity for the Coaches/Trainers to secure their FIDE Trainer titles.

1) Guwahati : 03 – 05 November 23

2) Bangalore : 24-26 November 23

Port Blair, Sept. 29: As part of the nationwide 'Swachhata Abhiyan/Swachhata Diwas' on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, costal cleaning was carried out at Marina Park area, A&N Islands. Cadets of Army and Naval NCC unit participated in an awareness rally to clean the sea shores and beaches by removing plastics and non- degradable wastes.  The programme was conducted under the supervision of Lt. Col Pankaj Modgil, Commanding Officer 1 (A&N) Indep Inf Coy NCC. The cadets interacted with the local population to educate them about the harmful effect of plastics on marine life and Islands ecosystems. Around 200 cadets, ANO/CT's and PI staff of both Army and Naval unit participated in the event with zeal and enthusiasm. They collected approx. 20 kg plastic and waste materials.

Mayabunder, Sept. 29: The District Administration in accordance with its ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ towards encroachment has taken another significant step towards protection of Government land in the District of North and Middle Andaman.

Port Blair, Sept. 29: Heavy rain (07-11 cm) and thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with gusty wind (speed reaching 30 -40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on Sept. 30 & Oct.1.

Meanwhile, due to squally weather, wind speed exceeding 45 kmph is likely to prevail over Southeast Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till Oct.1.
