Port Blair, July 19: On 15/07/2024, during a routine patrol at Rajiv Nagar, Kadamtala, HC/607 Pradeep Das and PC/2385 Meena Kumari Ekka noticed an elderly woman, seemingly unwell and wandering helplessly in the area. Upon inquiry, the elderly lady stated that she was a resident of Bakultala and had mistakenly boarded a bus from Bakultala to Port Blair. Upon reaching Rajiv Nagar, Kadamtala, she had mistakenly disembarked there. Recognizing her in distress, the officers promptly provided assistance and transported the elderly lady to PHC Kadamtala, where she received the necessary medical treatment and care.

ANCA to Participate in the Global Event

Port Blair, July 19: July 20 is celebrated worldwide as International Chess Day. This year is particularly special as it marks the 100th anniversary of the World Chess Federation (FIDE). To commemorate this milestone, the World Chess Federation (FIDE) will attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the most games played within 24 hours on July 20, 2024.

The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) is proud to participate in this global event by organizing the "International Chess Day #100 Years Simul Event" in Port Blair.This event aims to be part of the Guinness World Record for the most games played within 24 hours. The event will take place at Marina Park, in front of the Govt. Girls School, on July 20 from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

Diglipur, July 19: The Department of Agriculture at Diglipur organized a demonstration on ‘Preparation of Bio pesticides formulation viz. Neemashtra, Jeevamrit and preparation of Vermicompost in vermibed’ in the field of Shri R. Kannan, S/o Lt. P. Rangaswami at Milangram village under Gram Panchayat, Laxmipur today. The demonstration was attended by 25 farmers of the area and Samiti Member, Shri Ashim Mistry.    

Mayabunder, July 19: The District Child Protection Unit of North & Middle Andaman conducted an awareness programme on ‘Child Marriage’ at the Forest Labour (Welfare) Club, Mayabunder today. This significant event was held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner, N&MA, aimed at addressing critical issues concerning child welfare in our community.

The event was graced by the chief guest, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, N&MA, who delivered an insightful briefing on the topic, emphasizing the importance of health and education for the youth.

Port Blair, July 19: The Silviculture Forest Division in co-ordination with Forest Extension and Publicity Division, Silva Complex, Haddo, Port Blair of Department of Environment & Forests under the guidance and supervision of the Chief Conservator of Forests (R&WP)/Circle Head celebrated 75th Van Mahostava programme today at Govt. Boys Senior Secondary School, Middle Point, Port Blair. Shri Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, ANI and Chief Wildlife Warden was the chief guest on the occasion. He along with Ms Aparna Sinha, planted saplings on the occasion.
