Port Blair, May 11: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today expressed gratitude towards the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and the A&N Administration for granting 1/30th of minimum pay plus Dearness Allowance to the remaining left out daily rated workers who have been engaged for regular nature of work but not against sanctioned posts vide Admn’s order No.1283 dated 9th May 2023, referring to the policy decision of Andaman and Nicobar Administration vide Office Memorandum No.286 dated 22.09.2017.

Port Blair, May 11: In its constant endeavour of providing better healthcare facilities to the people of these Islands, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has fulfilled yet another long pending demand of residents of Swaraj Dweep by establishing a Dialysis unit at Primary Health Centre, Swaraj Dweep which was virtually inaugurated today by Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration.

Port Blair, May 11: Growing up in an atmosphere with love and care is the right of every child. In this regard, the adoption process is an appropriate program that helps in rehabilitation of the orphan, abandoned and destitute children. State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) under Directorate of Social Welfare is functioning in these Islands as a unit to coordinate, monitor and develop the work of adoption program, disseminating information and awareness on adoption process.

Port Blair, May 11: CPI (M) has urged the Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands to take immediate effective steps to tide over the water crisis in the Port Blair town and rural South Andaman areas during the coming days as the steps taken by the Administration so far proved to be ineffective. In a letter sent to the Lt. Governor, D. Ayyappan, State Secretary of CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar Islands further requested the Lt. Governor to hold an All Party meeting at his level to discuss this burning issue.

Port Blair, May 11: As per Metrological Department’s weather report, heavy rain (07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman Islands and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph) is also likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands on May 12. Meanwhile, due to the formation of Cyclone over Southeast Bay of Bengal and very likely intensification of the system, fishermen of Andaman & Nicobar coasts have been advised not to venture into the sea till May 14.
