Port Blair, June 4: The online nominations/ recommendations for Padma Awards namely ‘Padma Vibhushan’, ‘Padma Bhushan’ and ‘Padma Shri’ has started from 1st May, 2023 and the last date for nominations is 15th September, 2023. These awards are announced on the occasion of the Republic day every year. The award seeks to recognize ‘Work of distinction’ and is given, for distinguished and exceptional achievements/service in all fields/disciplines, such as, Art, Literature & Education, Sports, Medicine, Social work, Science & Engineering, Public affairs, civil service, Trade and Industry etc. All persons without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these Awards. A copy of the statutes and rules relating to these awards is available in MHA's web-site www.padmaawards.gov.in.

Port Blair, June 4: All the migrant labourers residing in this UT and are registered on e-Shram portal of the Govt. of India, who do not possess ration card neither in their native State/UTs nor in the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands have been asked to approach the Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Port Blair with valid documents such as Surrender/Deletion Certificate from parent State/UTs.

I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of many precious lives and the injuries in the train accident in the State of Odisha.
It is with great sorrow that we mourn the loss of approximately 260 precious lives. Their untimely departure is an immense tragedy that has left our hearts heavy with grief.
I stand in solidarity with the affected families during this immensely difficult time, and I offer my sincerest sympathies. May they find solace and strength to bear this unbearable sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate through this profound loss.
