Port Blair, Sept. 12: The two-day CITU Organisational Workshop began at Port Blair today. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. K. Hemalata, National President of CITU, who reached Port Blair from Delhi today morning. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hemalata said that the capitalist world is facing a crisis but the capitalists do not want to lose their profits for which they squeze the working class. In India, the rights enjoyed by the workers are being snatched away by the central government.  The government is trying to repeal all the labour laws and in its palce to bring four labour codes in order to protect the interests of the corporate. Once introduced, these Labour Codes will take away many of the rights of the workers. She further said that instead of solving various burning issues of the people, government is trying to divide the people of the country on communal basis.  Government is trying to divert the attention of the people from real problems faced by the people by talking about one nation, one election, etc.  

Port Blair, Sept. 12: On 05th September 2023, the 67th Police Constable Batch of Andaman & Nicobar Police donated a sum of Rs. 10,001/- (Ten Thousand One Rupee Only) to Shri. Baidya Nath Rai R/o Port Blair for his treatment who is suffering from intestine problem.

Port Blair, Sept. 12: The A & N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) conducted a mainstreaming training programme on HIV/AIDS for the officers, staff, employees and workers working under Directorate of Shipping Services at Labour Welfare Centre, Marine Dockyard today. Altogether 85 participants participated in the programme.

Port Blair, Sept. 12: On 11/09/2023, acting on a specific intelligence input from reliable source, Police team from Central Crime Station consisting of Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO, PS CCS, SI Parvash, Head Constable Sanjay Kujur, Sanjit Madhu, Constable K. Rajendran and N. Thangaraj on receiving secret input apprehended one person namely George Thomas, S/o Late Cheresty Thomas (40) yrs R/o Garacharma with 74 pieces measuring 2.343 Cbm of illegal sawn padauk timber of different sizes along with Ashok Leyland truck bearing registration No. AN01/M-8093 from Dollygunj junction near parking area. Padauk timbers were seized and accused person was detained observing all codal formalities.

Port Blair, Sept. 12: On 09/09/2023 at about 1630 hrs an unidentified partially decomposed male dead body has been found from a well at Babu Lane, Aberdeen Bazaar. The deceased body has been shifted to mortuary of G.B Pant Hospital, Port Blair for preservation and identification by their kith and kin.
