Port Blair, Oct. 25: CPI (M) has demanded investigation through Anti-Corruption Branch of CBI into the renovation work of National Highway 4 and construction of bridge at Middle Strait in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. CPI (M) has further demanded to take immediate steps to make the NH4 in the Middle Andaman District at least in motorable condition so that sufferings of thousands of people using the road can be minimized to a great extent.

In a letter sent to Shri Nithin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, New Delhi, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee drew his attention to the dreadful and dismal condition of National Highway 4 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands after the road was re-constructed/re-laid by the NHIDCL in the recent past.   

Port Blair, Oct. 25: Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) in collaboration with Ambitious Badminton Club Dairy Farm (ABCD), Andaman Helping Hands (AHHANI) and PBMC organised a Swachhata Campaign today at Marina Park surrounding area to create awareness among communities towards sanitation and cleanliness.

Miss Kashthuri Bhai, ace Chess player and Swachhata Ambassador for Port Blair city graced the occasion as the chief guest and initiated the Swachhata Campaign in presence of Dr. Muruganandam, Scientist, RMRCPB, ICMR, Port Blair & Shri. Aviral Saxena, GIZ who also participated in the cleanliness drive actively.

Port Blair, Oct. 25: In relation to FIR No. 04/17 dated 24/01/17 U/s 279/337 IPC of PS Kalighat, N&M Andaman, a vehicle "Bajaj Auto Rickshaw" with registration number AN01D 2056 was seized and kept at Police Station Kalighat. The case was acquitted from the Hon’ble court on dated 13/01/2023.

Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI has deeply mourned the sad demise of Shyamendra Krishna Talukdar, aged 87 Years, R/o Shore Point, South Andaman, who left for heavenly abode on 24-10-2023. Shri Jolly prayed to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to give strength to his bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Pot Blair, Oct. 25: All passengers/general public have been informed that in view of ongoing festive season, the Directorate of Shipping Services has arranged a special schedule of vessel Nalanda for Mayabunder on Oct. 26 at 2100 hrs from Port Blair. The vessel will sail for Port Blair on Oct. 27 at 0800 hrs from Mayabunder.  Passengers may book their tickets from DSS e-ticketing portal (https://dss.andaman.gov.in/ShipETicketingWeb/Login.jsp) and from STARS Ticketing Counter on Oct. 26 from 9 am to 4 pm.
