Port Blair, May 6: In a significant breakthrough the Police Station Cyber Crime has successfully apprehended a person named Vijay Victor, aged about 30 years for circulating intimate video of a victim girl over WhatsApp.

A formal complaint was lodged by the victim in which she stated that, earlier she was in a relationship with the offender for more than four years and at that time, the offender had recorded their intimate moments in his mobile phone. Later, when the relationship turned sour, then in order to teach the victim a lesson the offender circulated their intimate video over WhatsApp.

Port Blair, May 6: The Government of India initiative to integrate emergency Helplines into a single Helpline has resulted in the rolling out of 112 number. ERSS-112, launched in 2019 in A & N Islands, offers residents the opportunity to access emergency services through the 112 helpline during any crisis. ERSS is a unified, Andaman-wide response system, accessible through the single number 112, providing immediate assistance from agencies such as Police (100), Fire (101), Health (102) and Disaster Management.

Port Blair, May 6: Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary, DARE, and DG, ICAR, visited ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair on May 5, 2024. He visited the horticulture nursery block, world coconut germplasm centre, livestock farm complex, agro-ecotourism farm, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Andaman and marine research laboratory.

During his visit to different research and farm units, he interacted with the scientists and technical staff and urged to do more innovative research work with significant outcomes for the benefit of the farming community of the islands.

Port Blair, May 6: CRC-A&N Islands under the administrative control of National Institute of Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (Divyangjan), Govt. of India has initiated Free Coaching Scheme for PwMDs at CRC, Brookshabad on April 29, 2024.

The objective of the scheme is to provide coaching for economically disadvantaged  students with disabilities, having minimum 40% or more disability and having total family income from all sources of Rs.6 Lakhs per annum or less will be eligible to apply under this scheme and to enable them to appear in competitive examinations conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC), various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs),Banking/Insurance/PSU/CLAT to succeed in obtaining an appropriate job in Government/Public/Private sector.
