Port Blair, June 29: Twenty brave Indian soldiers, including one Commanding Officer of the Indian Army were killed at Galwan border clash with China on the night of June 15/16 June, 2020. However, the Govt. of India has so far not come up with a proper clarification on this issue, said the Pradesh Congress Committee Spokesperson in a press conference held on Saturday. In order to pay tributes to the brave hearts and also to highlight the important issues before the nation, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on the directions of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) had decided to organize various programmes.  Accordingly, two important programmes on important issues have been chalked out to highlight before the nation. As part of the CWC decisions, the Andaman and Nicobar Pradesh Congress Committee (ANPCC) have also decided to organize the same.

Port Blair, June 29: The Chairperson PBMC, Shri. N.K. Udhaya Kumar today inaugurated the two newly constructed CWRS tanks at Lillypur, Ward No-1 in the presence of Shri. S. Karunakaran Ward Councillior. Shri. K. Ganeshan Councillior Ward No-08 and officials of the Council.  Addressing the gathering Udhaya Kumar said that each CWRS tank has a capacity of 67,200 Gallons and will help mitigate water crisis in the Ward to a great extent.

Port Blair, June 29: The Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank Employee Welfare Fund has introduced a free bus service for the daily commuting of its staff members in South Andaman district. This is the first bus service (free service) introduced in the Island by any bank for its staff members till date.

Port Blair, June 28: In order to meet the local demands, the Convoy on the Andaman Trunk Road (ATR) starting from Jirkatan to Middle Strait has been increased from one to two now with the Unlock Phase – I being implemented. Commencing with the unlock phase-I announced by the government, flights and ships carrying passengers and cargo has also been allowed in the islands, which collectively has been posing serious risks to the endangered Jarawa community of the Andaman Islands.
