Port Blair, May 5: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to include the Jarawa Tribes in the Electoral Process of 2029 Parliament Election.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament expressed his sincere appreciation for the participation of the Shompen Tribe in the voting process in considerable numbers during the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Port Blair, May 4: The Child Helpline 1098 in collaboration with the State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) under the Directorate of Social Welfare has conducted an awareness program at Marina Park. The programme was aimed at raising awareness about legal adoption and the services provided by Child Helpline 1098. The joint effort between Child Helpline 1098 and SARA demonstrates a shared commitment to advocate for the rights and well-being of children, particularly those in need of a stable and nurturing family environment.

Kalighat, May 5: To combat the menace of illicit drugs in N&M Andaman District, PS Kalighat has once again demonstrated their determination by continuing the fight against drug peddlers.

Acting on a tip-off that two individuals were traveling on a motorcycle with registration number AN01-P-9503 towards the Kalighat area and were in possession of a large quantity of illicit ganja, a raiding team led by SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO of PS Kalighat, swiftly responded and the team reached Kalara junction and concealed themselves. The raiding team, comprising of HC (D) N Rupesh Kumar, PCs Subrata Biswas, Vijay Kumar, and Suresh Soreng, along with two independent witnesses, was supervised by Shri. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur.

Port Blair, May 4: As part of ‘Prakriti Shantiniketan-the Nature classroom programme’, the 4th Awareness Camp was organized on April 29, 2024 by the Wildlife Division Port Blair, Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. About 30 school students and teachers of GDMS participated in the programme.

The main objective of this camp was to orient students to the unique biological and cultural aspects of Nature Park and Interpretation Centre, Haddo, to expose students to the conservation and sustainability practice of the park and to develop an appreciation of the need for biodiversity conservation. This immersive camp offers participants a unique opportunity to engage in educational workshop and guided nature walk led by experienced staff. The nature awareness camp seeks to educate, inspire and empower the students to foster a sense of community and shared responsibility by means of field visit, classroom session, drawing competition and quiz competition.

Port Blair, May 5: Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) in collaboration with Pankh Andaman NGO, will organise a 'Chess and Concentration Programme' followed by a blitz chess tournament exclusively for students of Class VIII to XII on May 9, 2024 at Hotel Driftwood, Port Blair.
