Recovered Jewellery Worth Rs 11 Lakhs Returned to its Owners

Port Blair, Jan 11: On 12/09/2022 a burglary case vide FIR No. 80/2022 U/s 457/380 IPC was registered at PS Bambooflat against un-known person on the complaint of Shri Abdul Aziz, Rtd. Assistant Secretary, R/o Kadakachang for theft of gold ornaments worth Rs. 14 lakhs approximately from his house. Working professionally, on 12/12/2022 accused person namely T. Papa Rao @ Raja S/o Shri T. Chander Rao, 34 Yrs, R/o Ferrargunj was arrested and gold ornaments weighing around 172 gms were recovered.

Port Blair, Jan 11: A one-day workshop on awareness program on Social Issues was organised by DIET along with Humane Touch for the trainees of DIET at DIET auditorium on 10th January 2023 at 9:00 AM.

Dr. Mitesh Behari, a well-known Psychiatrist of the Islands was the chief guest on this occasion. He spoke on the topic of Social evil and Mental health. In his address, he gave more stress on mental health as it is essential and that those living with mental health issues are deserving of care, understanding, compassion, and pathways to hope, healing, recovery, and fulfillment.

Port Blair, Jan 11: The Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, A&N Administration has received complaints regarding overcharging on packaged commodities and beverages being sold in food stall functioning in the inter-island vessels. Such practices are clear cut violation of Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 framed under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.

Port Blair, Jan 11: Bambooflat police busted an illegal timber smuggling racket and detained two persons engaged in the illegal smuggling. On 10/01/2023, an information was received that one person namely Hussain R/o Azad Nagar is gathering large number of illegal padauk timber. Upon this, a raiding team comprising of SI Tejeshwar Rao, HCs R.K. Rathore, Ashok Roy, Sanjit Surin and PC Molina was constituted by the SHO Bambooflat K. Abdul Nasir. The team acted swiftly and conducted raid in the premises of Hussain, R/o Azad Nagar, Stwertgunj.
