Port Blair, Jan 18: The National Immunization Day for Polio under the Pulse Polio Immunization programme will now be held in these Islands on Feb. 27 instead of January 23. Due to the current situation of COVID cases, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare while responding on the requests received from the States/ UTs has given directions to observe the National Immunization Day for Polio on Feb. 27, 2022.

Port Blair, Jan 18: In the wake of increase in number of COVID-19 positive cases, admission of new non-COVID cases at GB Pant Hospital has been restricted. In order to de-congest GB Pant Hospital, 3 Specialists, one each from General Medicine, General Surgery and Orthopaedics will be available for OPD consultation at PHC Garacharama with effect from Jan. 19. Patients pertaining to the concerned discipline, who are seriously ill can avail this facility from PHC Garacharama instead of visiting GB Pant Hospital.

Port Blair, Jan 18: The Directorate of Education has informed that all students whose birth year is 2007 or before are eligible for first dose of vaccination against COVID-19 virus and has appealed to all those who have not taken the vaccine so far may get themselves vaccinated at the earliest in their nearest Vaccination Centres. This will enable the Education Department to resume physical teaching as early as possible and minimize the academic loss.

Port Blair, Jan 18: The Member of Parliament, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to order the concerned departments to provide all Anganwadi workers with sufficient safety gear like, masks, hand gloves, and sanitizer.
The Member of Parliament also requested to provide health as well as life insurance cover for all Anganwadi workers, who are involved in field survey and door-to-door surveillance for COVID-19.
