Port Blair, July 3: A proud moment for Islanders as R Kashthuri Bhai of GDMS Middle Point has brought laurels to the A&N Islands by securing first position in below 1350 category in the Athens of the East 2nd International Grand Master Open Chess Tournament 2022 held at Madurai from 01.07.2022 to 03.07.2022.  She scored 7 points out of 9 Rounds with six wins and two draws and clinched first position in below 1350 rating category and won Rs. 60,000/- cash prize plus Trophy and a smart phone. Around 600 players from different countries viz. India, USA, England, Canada, Sri Lanka, Sweden etc. participated in this prestigious event.

Port Blair, July 3: Dr. S. Raja Rao, Senior Regional Director at IGNOU, Regional Centre Port Blair has superannuated on 30th June, 2022. During his short stay Dr. S. Raja Rao focused on the ongoing Construction activity of the Regional Centre Building at Port Blair and streamlined the student support services in the Regional Centre. In view of the superannuation, Dr. Nurul Hasan assumed charge as Regional Director at Indira Gandhi National Open University, Regional Centre, Port Blair w.e.f. 1st July 2022.  Dr. Nurul Hasan had rich experience of working as Regional Director in Srinagar IGNOU Regional Centre and many other Regional Centres in the mainland.
