Port Blair, Dec. 5: The Indian Naval Air Squadron 318, christened as ‘Hawks’, was commissioned on 08 Mar 1984 as a frontline Maritime Air Squadron at Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Beginning with the Islander aircraft having limited reconnaissance capability, the squadron graduated to a more potent ‘Dornier’ aircraft in Dec 1999. Over the years, the squadron has transformed into a formidable frontline MR Squadron equipped with state of the art surveillance radar and electronic suite.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma called on Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) today at Raj Niwas. Discussed expediting execution of mega infrastructure projects worth ₹ 75,000/- Crores in A&N Islands, including International Container Transhipment Terminal and new Green Field Airport, consequent to the final clearance accorded by Government of India. Identification of additional projects for the follow-up phases was also discussed.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Central Island Agricultural Research Institute observed “World Soil Day” befittingly on 05.12.2022. at Chouldari Gram Panchayat, Govindpur and Perka village of Nicobar. The campaigns were conducted with the theme “Soils: where food begins” to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems and human wellbeing by addressing the growing challenges in soil management, increasing soil awareness and encouraging societies to improve soil health.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP, Former State President BJP A&N and Member of Home Ministry Advisory Committee, Govt. of India has demanded increasing Old Age Pension, Widow Pension, Destitute allowance, and Disability Persons Allowance considering the prevailing cost price index of these Islands through a letter addressed to Chief Secretary, A&N Administration.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: On 25.11.2022, a FIR was registered at PS Humfreygunj on finding the dead body of a deceased new born baby from the creek of Sippighat near SAI Boat House area. Since then, no family members/ relatives have come forward to claim the body. The body of the deceased new born has been preserved at cold mortuary of GB Pant Hospital. The family members of the aforesaid baby are hereby requested to approach PS Humfrygunj and take over the deceased body from GB Pant Hospital.
