Port Blair, Jan 15: Together with the rest of the Country, Armed Forces Veterans Day was celebrated in these Islands too, in a befitting manner. Jan.14 every year is commemorated as Armed Forces Veterans Day as a mark of respect and recognition to the services rendered by Field Marshal KM Cariappa, the first Indian Chief of Indian Army who retired from service on Jan. 14, 1953.

On the Occasion of A&N Police Raising Day, 2023, I extend my warm wishes to DGP and all ranks of A&N Police and their Families.

A&N Police has played an important role in maintaining Peace and Law & Order in these Islands. All personnel of the Police force strive hard to ensure the safety of the citizens of these Islands and security of their property. These Islands being an amalgamation of all the cultures of Mainland India, the Andaman Police plays an important role in strengthening mutual harmony and brotherhood in the Islands.

On the occasion of Police Raising Day, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all ranks of Andaman & Nicobar Police. The role of Police in maintaining law & order, prevention of crime and providing a safe & secure environment to the people of A&N Islands is praiseworthy.

It has been 70 years since Mr. Naushirwan Feroz Sauntook, an IPS Officer, assumed the charge of Superintendent of Police, A&N Islands on 16th January, 1953. Ever since, 16th January is observed as "Police Raising Day of Andaman & Nicobar Police".
