Ramakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member of the Party. The meeting reviewed the result of general election to 18th Lok Sabha in detail.

The meeting noted that while there was an anti-incumbency wave against the BJP-led government at the centre in the entire country, such a wave was not seen in these islands which resulted in the BJP winning the Lok Sabha seat from A & N Islands. The meeting noted that the Indian National Congress and the former Member of Parliament never attempted to expose the anti-people policies of the BJP government and remained silent during the last five years. In the last election, the Congress won the election from A & N Islands with the support of the CPI (M) by a margin of 1400 votes. After winning the election, the Congress MP never opposed the BJP government and its policies and adopted a soft-peddling attitude towards BJP government.  It was the CPI (M) which was the only political party in the islands, with its limited resources and reach, to expose the failures of the central government and its Administration in the islands.
