Port Blair, July 19: High waves in the range of 2.0- 4.0 meters have been forecasted till 23:30 hours of July 20, 2024. Small vessels have been advised not to ply, near shore recreation activities should be totally suspended and erosion/wave surges possible.  Swell waves in the range of 15.0-18.0 sec period with 1.4 - 1.9 m height have been forecasted till 23:30 hours of July 20, 2024.

Port Blair, July 18: Veer Savarkar international Airport is celebrating its first inauguration anniversary of New Integrated Terminal Building. The unique state of art terminal building was inaugurated on 18th July 2023 by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi via video conferencing.

The lamp lighting ceremony was held at 10:00 am in departure hall of terminal building by Secretary Civil Aviation A&N administration Shri Vishwendra and Special Secretary Civil Aviation A&N Administration Mrs Nandini Maharaj, Airport Director Sh Devender Yadav, Mrs Indira Kumar Managing Director of Srishti Communications and Chief Airport Security Officer Sh Rajinder Singh.

Port Blair, July 18: A delegation of the Education Department Part-time Employees Union (CITU) comprising P. Sathyapal, President, R. Surendran Pillai, General Secretary and Bindu Kumari, Treasurer today (18.7.2024) met the Secretary (Education), A & N Administration and discussed with him the issue of extension of services of Part-time Teachers, Part-time Ayahs, Part-time Craft Instructors, Part-time Attendant, etc. of the Education Department. The delegation submitted a letter to the Secretary (Education) in which it was stated that, as usual, the Part-time Employees working in the Education Department have reported for duty in their respective schools on reopening of the schools after summer vacation.  However, their duty reports are not being accepted by many of the Heads of Schools, on the plea that the Education department has not issued any extension order for continuance of their service. 

Port Blair, July 18: The Secretary Education (Shri L. Kumar-IAS) has inaugurated 02 days ‘State Level ULLAS-Mela’ on today dated 18th July-2024 at 11.30 AM in the Auditorium of Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair as Chief Guest.  The Director of Education and other Senior Officials of the Department were also present on this Occasion.

The State Nodal Officer-ULLAS, Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakramand also Dy. Director (Edn. For All), Shri R. K. Singh has welcomed the Chief Guest and briefed about the ULLAS-NILP Scheme &purpose of organizing this Mela, while Shri Aditya Kumar Jha, DANICS, Director of Education addressed the gathering and briefed on the significance of ULLAS-NILP Scheme initiated by the Govt. of India.
