CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee mourn the sudden demise of Smt Elizabeth Pious, Retired Teacher and wife of Com R. Pious D’silva, former President of CITU A & N State Committee today (15.10.2023) early morning at Port Blair.  She was 79 years.  CPI (M) conveys its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.   

Details of the funeral will be decided later on by her family.          

Port Blair, Oct. 13: The peaceful protest led by the girl students of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) since yesterday has come to a positive resolution today after the Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma personally met the Chief Secretary (In-charge) of Andaman & Nicobar Administration Mrs. Nandini Paliwal this morning.

During the discussion with the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma emphasized the genuine and critical nature of the students' demand for hostel accommodation.

Port Blair, Oct. 13: A meeting was convened under the Chairmanship of Commissioner –cum-Secretary (PWD), Ms Nandini Paliwal, IAS on Oct.11, 2023 in the main Conference Hall of Secretariat to discuss different issues related to bad conditions of NH4 in different stretches and issues being faced in movement of vehicles carrying essential supplies of LPG, POL and other goods to North and Middle Andaman.

Port Blair, Oct. 13: In a continuous endeavor to ensure the availability of hostel facilities to the students of Inter-Islands studying at different Colleges of A&N Islands, Higher Education Department has taken up many projects pertaining to construction of hostel and repair of the existing hostels. 

The construction of Girls Hostel of JNRM has been completed and minor finishing work is going on. The work will be completed preferably by November end and rooms will be allotted to students on the basis of hostel allotment policy.

Port Blair, Oct. 13: Shri. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member-BJP today met the Chief Secretary (In-charge) Smti, Nandini Paliwal and appraised her about two burning issues pertaining to the JNRM Girls Hostel and transportation of Oil Tankers, LPG Gas Cylinders and other essential supplies to North & Middle Andaman District.

Shri Vishal Jolly along with office bearers of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, ANI visited JNRM Girls Hostel in presence of Principal and other officials. He made a thorough visit and felt seriously that the demands made by students are genuine & reasonable & justified.
