Port Blair, July 27: The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) commemorated the 24th anniversary of 'Kargil Vijay Diwas' by dedicating the day in honouring the exceptional courage, valour, and sacrifice of our Kargil War Heroes. A Joint Services Guard was paraded at Bayonet Square, Brichgunj, Port Blair, signifying the unity and strength of our Armed Forces.

Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, AVSM, VM, Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), laid a wreath in a solemn ceremony to pay homage to the brave martyrs of the Kargil war. The ceremony was also attended by a large number of veterans.

Port Blair, July 27: To reaffirm our fight against drugs, and as a capacity building measure, the Andaman & Nicobar Police in coordination with Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), organized a three hours training-cum-workshop programme on “NDPS Act and PITNDPS Act” for the Supervisory and Investigating officers of A&N Police in the Conference Hall, PHQ, on 26/07/23. The training was imparted by a team of officers from NCB, led by Shri Rakesh Chandra Shukla, Zonal Director, Kolkata Zone, NCB. Senior Officers of A&N Police, including all the DIGsP and SsP, also shared their experiences on the topics during the workshop. The list of participants included the officers and staff of A&N Police across the ranks from DySsP to PCs.

Port Blair, July 27: The general public, business entities and stakeholders of A&N Islands have been informed that the previously scheduled downtime for the Chennai-Andaman-Nicobar Submarine Optical Fiber Cable has been rescheduled due to administrative reasons and will now take place a day earlier i.e., from 28.07.2023 (Friday) from 2000 hours to 29.07.2023 (Saturday) 1000 hours.

Surendran Pillai, President and SP Kalairajan, Secretary, CITU A & N State Committee met the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration today (27.07.2023) and brought to his notice a number of issues pertaining to the workers working in various departments and unemployed youths.  

Port Blair, July 27: The wooden foot bridge across Kalighat Creek (Nishchintapur village) collapsed on 22nd July 2023 due to heavy flow of water in the creek and taking up this issue with the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, the Member of Parliament Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma demanded urgent repair of the wooden foot bridge and Construction of RCC Bridge Across Kalighat Creek (Nishchintapur village).
