Shri D Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M), A&N State Organising Committee has condoled the sudden demise of Shri A. Erulandi, President, AIADMK, Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 5th June 2023 on the mainland.  He was 64 years. Ayyappan conveyes his heartfelt condolences to the family members of late Erulandi.     

Port Blair, June 5: In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, the Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today presented a series of pertinent observations and suggestions regarding the state of healthcare transportation and services in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The observations and suggestions put forth by Mr. Sharma encompass various critical aspects of healthcare delivery in the region:

Port Blair, June 5: The Inaugural function for the workshop on WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY, 2023 under the theme # BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION was held at Zoological Survey of India, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre, Port Blair on 5th June 2023. The Chief Guest Dr. P. Vijayachari, Director, ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre, Port Blair and Guests of Honour Dr. Kailash Chandra, Former Director, Zoological Survey of India, Professor, National Forensic Science University, Guwahati, Assam and Dr. P.S. Easa, Former Director, Kerala Forest Research Institute, Kerala were present at the function in offline and online mode. The ceremony started with a prayer song and lighting of traditional lamp.

Port Blair, June 5: Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) organised a series of events for celebrating mission LiFE and the World Environment Day. Mission LiFE (Lifestyle For Environment) is an India led global mass movement to nudge individual and community action, to protect environment. On the occasion of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, introduced Mission ‘LiFE’, to engage individuals in mitigating the adverse effects of climate change. To spread mass awareness about Mission ‘LiFE’ ANC carried out extensive activities, coinciding with World Environment Day which is being observed with the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”.

Port Blair, June 4: On 4th June 2023, the Indian Coast Guard RHQ, A&N, Port Blair organised a series of events for celebrating mission LiFE and as a run-up to World Environment Day.

The events included Run for Fun, Bicycle Rally, Open Sea Swimming, Tree Plantation Drive and Beach Cleaning efforts at Corbyn’s Cove Beach. The events were aimed to disseminate the message of protecting environment by choosing a healthy lifestyle for environment.
