Port Blair, Aug. 31: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,96,823 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,950 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years. 28, 275 beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years have been administered both doses of vaccine. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 2,45,738.

Port Blair, Aug. 31: No COVID positive case has been detected today in A&N Islands. Today, 10 flights with 1399 passengers arrived, out of which, 1263 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 90 passengers and the reports are awaited.

Port Blair, Aug 30: The Tribal Council Nancowry has raised various issues before the National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI Shri Vishal Jolly for immediate redressal of the grievance of tribals residing at Nancowry group of Islands. The Council informed that two boats namely MV Galathia and MV Barren were operating to provide services within the Nancowry group of islands. Due to repairs of MV Galathia since last one year the only MV Barren is providing the service which also is in dilapidated condition and facing huge difficulties to run the boat.

Port Blair, Aug 30: In a letter to Chief Secretary, A&N Admn, Shri.M.Vinod, President of AATO has requested for immediate appointment of Inland Vessel Surveyor.
Vinod mentioned that there are approximately 600 boats operating in A&N Islands, which are annually surveyed by I.V. Surveyor appointed by PMB. However presently there is no Inland Vessel Surveyor appointed in PMB. As a result, many boats are non-operational, awaiting survey.
