Port Blair, Jan 13: Andaman & Nicobar Islands has received its first batch of COVID-19 vaccine today. A total of 6500 doses of COVID-19 vaccine are being supplied by M/s Serum Institute of India to Andaman & Nicobar Islands for vaccination to prioritized beneficiaries in the initial phase of COVID-19 vaccination on 16th January 2021 (including Health Care Workers of State Government, Central Govt. and Armed Forces).

Rasheeda Bibi (ex - Pradhan), Mr. Simson, Mr.Dijo George (Social workers) met The Deputy Commissioner Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS and raised issues pertaining to their respective localities, including restoration of Harbour ferry timings to pre- Lockdown schedule, including Dundaspoint, Bambooflat and Panighat.

It can be heard from 0715 hrs to 0800 hrs on 15.01.2021 (Friday). The Director General of Police, Shri. Port Blair, Jan 13: An extended Central Executive Committee meeting of the Non Gazetted Govt. officers’ Association, A & N Islands held at Port Blair on 9th January, 2020 expressed serious concern on a large number of posts lying vacant under Andaman & Nicobar Administration. In a resolution adopted in the meeting the Association expressed unhappiness over undue delay to fill up the vacant posts. Around 8000 sanctioned posts are lying vacant now and non filling up of the posts is adversely affecting the normal functioning of various Departments causing delay and inconvenience to the general public on various services.

Port Blair, Jan 13: It has been observed that many vehicle owners whose vehicles are registered in other states are plying in A&N Islands without furnishing any intimation to the Transport Department, which is a violation of the provisions of M.V. Act. Data of such vehicles are not available with the agencies in the UT which makes it difficult to trace the details in the event of any accident or other untoward incident.
