Port Blair, July 30: Thunderstorms, lightning & gusty wind (speed 30-40 kmph) is likely occur at one or two places over A&N Islands on July 31, Aug.1, 2 & 3.  Due to strong monsoon current, wind speed exceeding 45 kmph is likely to prevail over Andaman Sea and neighborhood. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till Aug. 3.

CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee expresses deep grief at the passing away of Comrade Lawrence Fernandez, former President of the Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, at a hospital at Kochi, Kerala on 28th July, 2023. He was 74 years. 

Com.Fernandez, a retired Headmaster of Education Department, Andaman & Nicobar Islands was a committed leader and was in the forefront of various movements of government employees.  He had to face the wrath of the ruling parties and the Education Department for organizing government employees and conducting agitations wherever he was posted while in service.

Port Blair, July 28: In recognition of outstanding performance of PC/2612 Nagveni of PS Hutbay in the 24th Senior SQAY Martial Art National Championship 2023-24 held at Kurukshetra, Haryana from 22nd to 25th June, 2023, DGP A&N Islands, Sh. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS congratulated and awarded her with Commendation Certificate Class-I & Cash reward of ` 2500/-. She has brought laurels to A&N Police by winning 01 Gold Medal in Layaatmak SQAY, 02 Bronze Medals in Yudham and Kaushal. Mentionably, she also got certificate of registration of rank for Black Belt 3rd Degree in SQAY Martial Arts.

Member of Parliament Demands for Procurement of New Operational Headring Machine for Chatham Saw Mill

Port Blair, July 28: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to procure a new Operational Headring Machine for Chatham Saw Mill.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament said that presently, out of the two Headring Machines for slicing logs, the 54" Vertical Saw Band machine installed in 1974, has been dismantled due to ageing and malfunctioning.

Port Blair, July 28: The Tourism Minister of Karnataka, Shri H.K. Patil visited the pavilion of Andaman& Nicobar Tour Operators Association at the IITM Bengaluru.  The association discussed on the frequency of direct flights from Bengaluru to Port Blair and also LTC for visiting A&N Islands. The Minister assured that he will have a discussion with the Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma and send a delegation soon to the Islands. The ANTOA Pavilion is being represented by its President, Shri. Bhuveshawaran, General Secretary Simson and few other members.
