Port Blair, April 1: The International Year of Millets was celebrated by the Food Safety Department by organizing a Walkathon today. The Joint Commissioner (Food Safety)/Additional District Magistrate, South Andaman District, Shri Dilkush Meena, IAS flagged off the Walkathon from National Memorial Cellular Jail premises. The Walkathon passed through vantage points like Clock Tower, Head Post Office, IP&T junction, Fire Brigade HQ, Vikas Bhavan and culminated at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium.

Port Blair, April 2: The Hoteliers Association of Andaman and Nicobar Islands jointly with A&N Administration is organizing one of the flagship annual calendar events ‘Tuffman Island Ultra & Half Marathon Andaman (3rd Edition)’ powered by SeaShell Hotel Resort Spa on 30th April 2023 at Netaji Stadium. The event is a milestone for these islands, promoting the spirit of sportsmanship and eco-tourism.

Port Blair, April 2: PBMC supplies drinking water to municipal areas. Due to poor monsoon and excessive heat there is acute shortage of water supply from PWD to PBMC. Rains are not expected any time soon. Water is a precious natural resource and cannot be wasted. The general public have been advised to use water carefully and avoid any wastage of water. Overflow of storage tanks should be avoided at all costs. Consumers are to fix leaking pipes and install float valves in water tanks to avoid overflow. Govt. offices, public institutions, commercial establishments and other major consumers of water have to take precautionary measures to preserve water.

Kozhikode, April 2: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma recently met the esteemed members of Markazu Saqafathi Sunniyya (Jamia Markaz), a renowned university in Kozhikode, Kerala. During the meeting, the university officials invited the Member of Parliament to be a special guest of honour for the newly built Knowledge City near Kozhikode.

Port Blair, April 2: The District Administration, South Andaman in association with Gram Panchayat Hut Bay yesterday undertook a beach cleaning drive at Machidera in Hutbay Panchayat under the leadership of Tehsildar, Little Andaman. People from all walks of life including PRI members enthusiastically participated in the drive and collected garbage for its safe disposal.
