Port Blair, Sept. 4: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services has taken up ear tagging in cattle and buffaloes of North and Middle Andaman District. The yellow tamper proof ear tag with 12-digit unique identification number will not only help to keep the track record of livestock and owner but will also effectively help in dealing with the problem of cattle roaming free on road by identifying the owner who let their cattle free and by imposing fine by the local bodies (Panchayat).

Port Blair, Sept. 4: The Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, A&N Administration has informed that a draft ‘Astro Tourism Policy for A&N Islands’ has been formulated with the aim to promote sustainable Astro Tourism activities that benefit both the stargazers and the local communities, while also preserving the natural environment of the Islands.
The draft policy may also help to promote sustainable tourism that leverages the regions clear skies, minimal light pollution, natural beauty, offering visitors a unique celestial experience.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: All concerned candidates who have applied for allotment/nomination of BDS, BAMS, BHMS, MBBS (Malayalee Origin) & BAMS (Malayalee Origin) courses reserved at mainland institutions for the students of A&N Islands for the academic session 2024-25 have been informed that the Administration through press note published in The Daily Telegram dated 17.08.2024 has invited claim and objection, if any, from all the concerned in respect of revised provisional merit list of BDS, BAMS, BHMS, MBBS (Malayalee Origin) & BAMS (Malayalee Origin) courses on or before 20.08.2024, but no claim and objection has been received upto 20.08.2024. Hence, the revised provisional merit list for the above said courses is now treated as final merit list.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is very likely along & off Andaman & Nicobar coast till Sept. 8. Sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast till Sept. 8.
