Port Blair, July 22: The National Council of Science Museum, Kolkata (NCSM) has partnered with NCERT, Ministry of Education, GoI and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) to conduct the mega event Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) 2024-25 for school students of class VI to XI. This talent search examination will be held on 23rd October, 2024 or 27th October, 2024 in 12 major regional Indian languages (Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia, Malayalam, Assamese, Sanskrit, Urdu) along with English, Hindi.

Port Blair, July 22: Applications have been invited from Boys and Girls for admission to Class VIII in Rashtriya Indian Military College, Deharadun for the July 2025 term. The written examination for the admission will be held on 1st Dec, 2024. The eligibility criterions for admission are the candidate should either be studying in Class VII or passed Class VII from any recognized school at time of admission to RIMC, i.e. on 1st July, 2025.  The candidate should be in age bracket of 11 ½ to 13 years as on 01 July 2025, i.e. they should not be born earlier than 02 Jan 2012 and not later than 01 Jul 2014.

Port Blair, July 21: On 20th July 2024 at around 2030 hrs, Andaman & Nicobar Police received information from Indian Coast Guard Head Quarters, that 03 fishermen are stranded on Nicholson Island (near Swaraj Dweep) due to grounding of their boat. Immediately information was transmitted to the senior officers and a combined Rescue Team consisting of personnel from Police Station Swaraj Dweep and Police Marine Force was formed.

Port Blair, July 21: The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) proudly announces the successful culmination of the 100 years celebration of International Chess Day, marking a significant milestone in the global chess community. This year's celebration held special significance as it commemorated the 100th anniversary of the World Chess Federation (FIDE).

To commemorate this historic occasion, FIDE embarked on a Guinness World Record attempt for the most games played within 24 hours on July 20, 2024, globally. ANCA enthusiastically participated in this endeavour by organizing the "International Chess Day #100 Years Simul Event" at Marina Park, in front of the Govt. Girls School, yesterday evening.
