The general consumers and Government Departments have been informed that power supply will remain suspended in Haddo, Haddo Wharf, Foreshore Road and upto Civil Aviation Delanipur, Buniyadabad, AIR, DDK Colony, part of Delanipur, part of Prem Nagar, Coast Guard Enclave, Coast Guard HQ, Coast Guard Jetty, Panipat Road & Fortress Head Quarter on Jan. 20 from 9 am to 2 pm in connection with the rectification of 33 KV Zebra Tie Line underground power cable at Haddo in front of the Electricity Site Office.

Port Blair, Jan 18: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma called on the Hon’ble Lt. Governor yesterday at Raj Niwas and raised many crucial issues.

One prominent issue among others was re-constitution of Andaman & Nicobar Islands UT Haj Committee and appointment of Executive Officer for UT Haj Committee. 

Highlighting a long pending grievance of the Muslim population of this Union Territory he informed the Hon’ble Lt. Governor that the A&N Islands UT Haj Committee was re-constituted vide Notification No. 20-35/2002- Haj (S.W) dated 26th May, 2006 for period of three years w.e.f. 01.07.2006 which was extended for further period of six months w.e.f 01.07.2009 or till a new Committee is reconstituted whichever is earlier vide Notification No. 1-5/2009-Haj (S.W) dated 30th October 2009. The said extended period expired in December 2009.

Port Blair, Jan 18: In a commendable initiative, North & Middle Andaman District Police launched "SWARAKSHA" a self-defence program in the month of September, 2023. This pioneering effort is specifically designed to empower female students in colleges and schools across the region. The program aims to address two vital aspects ensuring the safety of young girls and boosting their self-confidence.

Port Blair, Jan 18: In a spirit of unity and celebration, the Andaman & Nicobar Police hosted a vibrant ‘At Home’ function as part of the 72nd Raising Day festivities. The event, held on 18th Jan 2024 was graced by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Admiral D.K. Joshi (Retd.) as the chief guest, Shri Nikhil Kumar, I/c Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, Shri Sandeep Sandhu, COS, A&N Command along with other dignitaries.

Port Blair, Jan 18: Shri Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of BJP and Former State President of BJP, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has penned a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of the A & N Administration, Port Blair, urging for uninterrupted power supply on January 22, 2024, in A&N Islands.

In his letter, Shri Jolly highlighted that the Pran Pratishta of Shree Ram Mandir, Ayodhya, is scheduled to take place on January 22, 2024. Nationwide celebrations, including those in A&N Islands, are being organized in connection with the Pran Pratishta. As part of these celebrations, 300+ temples in A&N Dweep Samuh will actively conduct various programs related to the consecration of Ram Lala at Ayodhya, including live screenings of the consecration ceremony.
